Quick story on this song. The day we wrote it was the day we recorded it. We were planning to go to the studio later that day after a writing session. We had a song in mind to record already, but little did we know what we were about to create. Even half-way through the writing session, I started thinking this is the song we need to do today. Eventually we finished up and we decided lets get this in the studio same day.. Sammy, one of the co-writers on the song was playing some mean licks in the writing room. We asked him if he could come with us to the studio real quick to track the guitar and luckily he had time. Right after that, I recorded vocals. It was such a cool experience to get it all in one day.
Super hyped for this one, definitely a different vibe than my past releases. Hope y'all enjoy it. -𝒥𝒶𝓀ℯ ℛ𝓎𝒶𝓃

He Said “boy don’t worry, I know you’ll make it on your own.” Since the beginning my pops has always been there to support, push, and believe in me. Inspired by all his teachings and love, I wrote “He Said” out of it. Over 2 years later, that song is now officially out to all of you guys.
I am truly blessed to have such an amazing father that always does his best to provide for our family and be there for each one of his kids. Love you dad. Happy 50th birthday @bigpapavegas

When I wrote this song with my good friend and mentor, Zac Maloy, I knew we had something special. I had just gotten out of the toughest breakup of my life and been going through a lot of personal changes. I felt like a whole new me was underway but was really struggling on how to cope with it. Initially listening to this song, you may think it’s just another heartbreak song about a man leaving behind a woman he loved, but to me it goes way deeper than that.
It’s about leaving a part of myself behind that no longer can take place anymore. Cause while I’ll always cherish who I was in the past (the good & the bad), what we go through inevitably changes us. We can try to hold on but it’ll never be possible to grow and build the ultimate life God wants for us if we can’t let go. That’s not saying we need to forget and never be the person we used to be. Rather, we can take the best parts with us and learn from the worst. We can become someone we truly love.
I've been told by many people, “if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse,” so with that said we should always be working to improve ourselves. No matter what you do or want, there’s nothing stopping that clock of life. Nothing preventing you from shooting for the best with what you got. Like the quote I’ve had in my bedroom since before I could remember, “You gotta take the shot to make the shot.”
With love,

‘Me And This Girl’ is very special to me for a few reasons. Not only is it my first single out of Nashville but it’s also my first love song. When we started writing this, I immediately could feel the energy and excitement that filled the room as we created each line. Now when I listen, it takes me to those first time feelings with that special girl riding shotgun already changing your whole perspective on life. It’s like when you finally get your license or when you move away for college. The freedom is endless and you feel like there’s no outside problems, just you and this girl. - JR
